How are you dear friend? Seriously, how are you doing? I pray you are well in the midst of this difficult time.
Over the course of this year, there have been many things to feel helpless and even hopeless about. You may feel like so much of your life, and even our world, is out of control. We also have these concerns. Our staff and Sunshine families are experiencing many of these same feelings. Yet in the midst of these uncertainties we rest knowing that God has not left us nor has He forgotten our neighborhood.
Throughout the summer we were able to meet so many of our neighbors as they came to pick up care packages. What we heard over and over was gratitude not just for the supplies but for what they represented. Someone saw them. Someone cared. Someone was there to pray with them.
I want to encourage you that each gift you gave mattered in a very real way.
Your steadfast support helped beat back the anxiety of the unknown. Each gift made a difference not only by feeding families and keeping homes Covid-free, but actually helping our moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, and of course all our children feel loved and strengthened to keep going one more day.
Your partnership with our staff and community reminds us with each gift, that we are not alone, that God is faithful and is providing abundantly above all we can ask or imagine.
Groceries, toiletries, cleaning supplies, hot food, jobs, Chromebooks, virtual tutoring, space for kids to do their e-learning, Thanksgiving meals, Christmas gifts, regular personal connection, courage, dignity, and hope are all things you provided to over 1000 families in Woodlawn this year. Through your support, we have been able to keep all of our staff employed and our programming fully funded. We were also able to raise additional money for our Mercy Fund which was dispersed to the community in new and unique ways, opening our doors to so many new relationships.
In order to continue supporting our Woodlawn community, our 4th quarter need for support is $582,000 of which $303,000 is already given or pledged, leaving $279,000 as our current year end budget gap. If you haven’t already done so:
Will you consider a year end gift today? Your gift means so much more than ever. Your support speaks HOPE and HELP and COMMUNION in a divided world.
Would you also consider a multi-year pledge? This would strengthen us as an organization as we continue to be a sustainable and predictable presence in Woodlawn for years to come. We would welcome the chance to discuss this with you further. firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for doing your part and for growing with us in love,
Director of Stewardship and Development
