Position Summary

Marketing Coordinator would collaborate with communications and external relations team in implementing overall communications and marketing strategy, specifically focused on social media platforms, website utilization, and will be contributing to the overall marketing  plan for external messaging of the organization. The Marketing Coordinator works to build awareness, increase engagement, maintain positive public image and position SGM as advocates for the Woodlawn community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilites

  • Collaborate with Manager, Communications & External Relations in planning, developing, and implementing content on social media platforms (currently Facebook and LinkedIn).
  • Oversee effective management and engagement of website by various SGM stakeholders.
  • Maintain Communications & External Relations standard operating procedure across the organization.
  • Design and implement video engagement plan for SGM including, but not limited to, specific campaigns for programs, initiatives, and fundraising.
  • Track and leverage engagement data to direct social media and video content strategies.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

Related Duties

  • Standard on-site business workdays and hours.
  • At times, must work weekdays, evening and weekends, including holidays with a flexible work schedule.
  • Attend in-person monthly All Staff meetings.
  • Attend weekly Development and External Relations team meetings.

Education Skills and Experience

  • Excellent writing, editing & communication skills.
  • Proficiency in social media platform design & implementation.
  • Proficient in back-end website management, specifically WordPress.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in non-profit communications, marketing and social media platforms.
  • Proficient in video editing on various platforms, including Adobe Premiere.
  • Deals discretely with confidential information and/or issues related to SGM.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to work with and have an appreciation for diverse groups of people



  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field
  • Experience navigating communication and marketing nuances related to engaging the wide variety of SGM stakeholders (Woodlawn community, SGM students/families, donors, programming partners, etc.)

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Physical demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk and/or sit; use hands to fingers or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. The employee must be able to bend, stoop, pull, push, lift, as well as have overhead extension of arms. Must be able to stand for long periods of time; be able to lift, carry or move at least 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.


Work environment: This position will mostly work from home. However, at times while performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a public building and/or outdoors and thus will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but at times, can be high.


This is a part-time position (20 hrs/week) non-exempt position. The salary range is $19-21/hour.
