Position Summary

The Elementary Program Manager will lead a team of staff and volunteers in providing intentional, age-appropriate programming for children in 1st – 5th grades that exist to help children in our community flourish spiritually, academically, emotionally, and physically. This is accomplished through after school and summer program that provide safe spaces, biblical instruction, homework assistance, educational enrichment, life skills, recreation, art and STEM components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilites

  • Provide overall leadership, oversight and support to the Elementary after school and summer programs.
  • Provide spiritual leadership to the staff and programs ensuring that God is at the center of the programs.
  • Build and manage program budget.
  • Develop and implement the after school and summer program structure and schedules to best accomplish each of the program goals as outlined above.
  • Oversee and manage a team of SGM staff and volunteers to execute programs utilizing their strengths and gifts to best accomplish the program goals.
  • Ensure that the curriculum for the 40 Developmental Assets remains the core of the BRING programs.
  • Provide administrative program support including maintaining program data, purchasing supplies and snacks as needed and working with vendors.
  • Coordinate, train and prep volunteers to maximize their effectiveness.
  • Work with the team to maintain consistent contact with parents and community partners.
  • Work with the team to deal with emotional and discipline issues with students.
  • Assist in the implementation of program metrics to measure effectiveness.
  • Coordinate scheduled outside activities and events throughout the school year and summer.
  • Participate as part of the Sunshine Gospel Ministries Youth Outreach team that provides programs for youth from 1st-12th grades.
  • Participate in Sunshine Gospel Ministries ministry-wide events such as Open House, Christmas Store, and other events that may be planned throughout the year.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned

 Related Duties

  • Must be available evenings and weekends in cases of emergencies.
  • Works on call as needed at any time for emergency repairs, equipment monitoring, overtime, or special needs failing outside of normal working hours.

Education Skills and Experience

NOTE: Sunshine Gospel Ministries is a not for profit religious organization. This position is a ministerial role and will perform all or some of the following responsibilities: sharing the Gospel, leading Bible studies, and modeling behavior that is consistent with Christ’s teaching.

 

REQUIRED:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Education, Christian Education, Children’s Ministry, or a related field.
  • Three consecutive years of hands-on youth work experience with 1st-5th grade students including but not limited to developing relationships with students, families, schools and community resources and leading groups of students in academic, extra-curricular and spiritually enriching activities is preferred.
  • Experience of leading a team of staff and volunteers in an elementary or middle school educational or ministry setting.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Physical demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to walk and/or sit; use hands to fingers or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. The employee must be able to bend, stoop, pull, push, lift, as well as have overhead extension of arms. Must be able to use ladders when required. Must be able to stand for long periods of time; be able to lift, carry or move at least 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Able to work in multiple temperature environments from -20F degrees to +80F degrees. Physically able to do snow removal with snow blowers and/or shovels as well as handle exterior maintenance when needed.

 

Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a public building and/or outdoors and thus will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
