Joel Hamernick – Executive Director
Joel has been on staff with Sunshine since 1999. Initially, he served as Camp Director of Sunshine Cove from 1999-2001, before transitioning to his current role as Executive Director. Joel’s role includes leading the staff in all areas of ministry (administrative, development, programming, facilities, and strategic planning) and working with the board in its overall leadership of the ministry.
Joel and his wife, Paula, have 7 children. They live in the Woodlawn community and attend Christ Bible Church.
Joel’s passions and interest include music (only listening!), sports (only watching!), riding his motorcycle, reading, and, of course, playing with his kids. His interests also include a wide range of historical topics and urban issues as well as city development at large.
