Community Technology Center

Sunshine's Technology Center is dedicated to serving the Woodlawn, Washington Park, and Bronzeville neighborhoods of Chicago. The Center opens at 10:00 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m., with the exception of our After School Matters' courses which commence at 7:30 p.m.

Our Technology Center provides community residents with access to the Internet, Microsoft Office applications, printing, copying, and faxing capabilities. Our training classes include basic computer literacy, basic training in Microsoft Office suite training, the business of web development, and the business of designing and maintaining small office networks. Weekend workshops in Internet security options and resume writing are slotted to begin shortly. All training is hands-on. Our methods include traditional classroom experience, project-based learning, and entrepreneurial programs.

This Technology Center is currently the only one of its kind within the greater Woodlawn neighborhood. However, we are part of local and national networks of technology centers to learn the industry best practices.

NTEN believes that technology allows non-profits to work with greater social impact. They enable their members to be able to strategically use technology to make the world a better, just, and equitable place. They facilitate the exchange of knowledge and information within a community. They make it a priority to connect its members, like Sunshine, with each other; to provide professional, development opportunities; and many other services that help us postively affect Woodlawn.

TechMission is a Christian non-profit social service agency whose mission it is to support Christian organizations in using technology to transform vulnerable communities.
