A few years back we realized that simply giving away gifts left our parents in an awkward position. Really, we were only feeding into an already existing injustice. We would often find that as gifts were passed out door-to-door mothers were absolutely appreciative but unfortunately disappointed in knowing that those gifts weren’t from her. Fathers often times wouldn’t even make an appearance to the door. We had taken away the joy that a father gets from knowing that he is a provider – he is working for the sake of his family. We had stolen dignity from parents. To address this problem we refocused our motives and started the Christmas store. Gifts that we had received as donations for our efforts were instead sorted, stocked, and re-priced at 10 to 20 cents on the dollar for a one-time shopping experience where parents would be able fulfill their natural parental desires to provide.

Sunshine Gospel Ministries would like to invite you to participate in our annual Christmas Store. Here’s how...

There is an abundant need each year that is especially evident during the Christmas season. Sunshine would like you to fill this need even if it’s helping to bring about one child’s Christmas celebration.

» The purchase of one $30.00 gift from each household that navigates to this site is all it takes. Your donated gift will be placed in the inventory of our store and re-sold at a fraction of the cost, making it affordable for our neighbors to buy their children Christmas presents. All of the revenue, then, gets presented to one or two families that need something extra this year.

» Dates… Our Christmas store event will be on Saturday December 19th. This means we need your gifts to be collected and ready for delivery or pick up no later than noon the day before. If you can arrange drop off at our location, on or before noon on the 18th, that would be greatly appreciated.

» The gifts… We are asking that no gift cost more than roughly $30.00, and be purchased new. Please do not wrap the gifts. We are looking for items ranging from crayons and play-dough to clothing and gift cards.

» Year end fund… If you or your congregation decides that your resources would be better spent on affecting our various ministry efforts directly, we are accepting and appreciative of any financial donations that would go into our year end fund. See our website for donation options.
